The training programs/ progressions at Shoshin are highly effective. I've noticed a huge difference in my one-legged squat after only a month. The community is very supportive and welcoming. Training at Shoshin also helped me rehab my joints and muscles after pregnancy so I was able to train for and run a half-marathon 6 months after giving birth without sustaining an injury. Try the intro offer! It's worth it.

    best movement gym in QLD!
I came to Cairns to explore the many natural wonders of the region but ended up spending my whole 2 weeks in town because I couldn't get enough of the training.
Dave and Will are both excellent teachers and coaches which is seen clearly in the results of their students. I was amazed at the average skill level in the handstand class. And this wasn't because it was a room full of 20 year old gymnasts. Quite the opposite! Young and old, male and female. athletic background or no everyone was getting upside down. It's a testament to the method to see such competency across the board.
It's a no ego, intelligent and structured approach to learning handstands and the results speak for themselves.
On top of that they also offer mobility, strength and kettlebell classes to keep you limber as a willow, supple as a leopard and strong as a lion.
To top it all off, everyone is super friendly and the place has an awesome community feel.
Couldn't recommend it more highly for anyone wanting to try a new approach to fitness and find more freedom in their body.
Can't wait to come back and train with these guys again.
May the gainz be with you!

I moved to Cairns after spending the last years teaching partner acrobatics at CrossFit gyms, rock climbing centres and yoga studios around Los Angeles.

After working at so many I am pleasantly surprised that ShoShin movement is my favourite gym of all.

Dave is extremely knowledgeable and knows exactly what modifications are appropriate for all bodies to get benefit from the movement.

The class sizes are capped to a reasonable number, Dave and Will are experts at seeing everything from across the room so that each class almost feels like a private session.

The gym has a gymnastics feel, lots of bodyweight exercises with plenty of suggestions of how to make each movement harder if needed.
And best of all the workouts are done barefoot.

The community that attend ShoShin are very inviting and feel like a family.
Everyone is so supportive of each other, pushing each other to achieve their best with zero ego.

Seeing human of all different ages, sizes, genders in the handstand class is inspiring.
Everyone is so humble about their long hold handstands.
They all say “yeah I was like you not long ago, then I just came to the classes and did what Dave said”

So glad that I ended up here in Cairns and at ShoShin movement, it’s a family of people wanting to get the best from their bodies using sustainable movements that will be relevant and possible for all ages and experience levels.

Great gym with welcoming atmosphere and very knowledgeable coaches, who have good attention to detail and make sure everyone does all movements correctly and safely. Their progression-based training suits everyone, no matter what age or fitness and skill level. I started from absolute zero and can't believe how far I've come. It is so rewarding to see your progress and achieve goals that seemed impossible. I have significantly improved my strength and flexibility, and learned a lot about my body and how to use it. Training in this gym is also fun with a great, supportive group of people, and interesting sessions - it doesn't ever get boring. Highly recommend it!

I had an amazing time with the Shoshin movement crew! I was there for a short period of time due to be an intern in the hospital and the team there welcomed me with open arms. All the trainers are awesome and they offer a variety of classes for all levels. The give you clear instructions and tech you the fundamentals of movement. I grew my handstand practice in a matter of weeks! It's not just about handstands, their classes for strength and movement are great too. I am upset that my stay was only for a month. All the best!
